Levi Strauss, a 24-year-old German immigrant, left New York for San Francisco with a small supply of dry goods with the intention of opening a branch of his brother’s New York dry goods business. He had spent a number of years learning the trade in New York after emigrating there from his home land Germany. Shortly after his arrival, a prospector wanted to know what Mr. Strauss was selling. When Strauss told him he had rough canvas to use for tents and wagon covers, the prospector said, “You should have brought pants!,” saying he couldn’t find a pair of pants strong enough to last. In 1853, Levi turned strongcanvas cloth which he was originally going to sell for tents andwagon covers into pants. He made the pair of pants because of miners. A miner had written and told him that miners needed a pair of pants that would not tear or rip. A pair of these jeans cost about twenty two cents.
During 1900’s Levis Strauss( he invented jeans) founded his company and sold his first Denim jeans over more than 65 countries all around the world. The history of the most famous transition began in a small city of German in a north of Liveria. By 1850, he turned his work into a very successful business. He made a name for himself a well-respected businessman through his success.Blue jeans are casual pants made from denim, famous for their strength and comfort. They have been worn by sailors and California gold miners as hardworking work pants(sturdy), by the young as a statement of their generation, and by the fashionable, who are conscious of the prestige by designer names. Denim cloth itself has an unusual history. The name comes from serge de Nimes, or the serge of Nimes, France. Originally, it was strong material made from wool. By the 1700s, it was made from wool and cotton. Only later was it made solely from cotton. Originally, it was used to make sails, but eventually, some innovative Genovese sailors thought it fit that such fine, strong material would make great pants, or “genes.”
Levi Jeans — at one time or another, they were called britches, trousers, overalls, pants and finally jeans. Today, Levis are available in a variety of styles and are sold exactly in the fitness of the body. In Chinese language, jeans are known as “niuzaiku”.
